Brian Morrison a British lawyer portrait

Timothée Paris meets Brian Morrison

Brian Morrison, a confident and dedicated professional, is a corporate lawyer in London.
He fearlessly reveals his true self.

Question from Julia to Brian:

Who do you trust the most and why?

I trust no one. Everyone has their motives and agendas. Call me a cynic if you must. I’ve already admitted to being moody. My mother died earlier this year and I suppose she was the closest person I could trust, but not with money!

A word to describe you?

Moody.

Can you recall the last thing that brought a smile to your face?

Probably a clip from Jessica Kirson, a comedian on Instagram

Can you name a book or movie that has significantly influenced your life?

Taxi, the 70s American TV show that starred Judd Hirsh and Danny DeVito. It wasn’t the show that much, but the soundtrack and opening theme, by Bob James. This introduced me to jazz.

What are some uncommon skills that aren’t typically taught but can be invaluable in daily life?

I am glad I learned to type in college many years ago. Even then, all assignments had to be typed. Since we now spend so much time at our keyboards, I cannot imagine trying to type reports, essays, all those emails otherwise. It’s a bit of a shame that it’s not considered an essential skill.

Have you discovered a new hobby or interest recently? What is it?

I’ve committed to finally learning French. My local friends will help, I’m sure. Let’s see how it goes.

What song lyrics always come to mind and what do they mean to you?

I suppose I’m looking for something but will I ever find it? Probably not, since I don’t know what I’m looking for. Maybe it’s true that the search or the quest is the real endeavour.

Most vagabonds I knowed don't ever want to find the culpritThat remains the object of their long relentless questThe obsession's in the chasing and not the apprehendingThe pursuit, you see, and never the arrest

From Foreign Affair, written by Tom Waits (1977)

Where is the best place you've been and why?

Many years ago I lived in New York. It was the dawn of my career and I found the atmosphere exhilarating, frenetic, competitive  and sometimes frightening. It gave me ambition, resilience, humility, confidence and an attitude problem. It all worked out. I met my first love there. I’ll say nothing more since you didn’t ask that question.

Your current obsession?

Crop circles. I am fascinated by these complex patterns created in a matter of seconds under darkness. I do not believe they are made by humans and the mystery of other possible explanations forces me to keep an open mind and consider aliens, magnetic forces, supernatural phenomena. Whatever!

If you could spend a day as someone else, who would it be and why?

I can only be me.

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend?

Eurostar to Paris.

What question would you like to ask the person after you?

What is the biggest risk you have taken?

Brian is wearing Atlantique sustainable suede Caramel
