Timothée Paris meets Julia Mchedlishvili

Julia is Ukrainian fashion stylist based in Paris.
We were welcomed at her cozy apartment.

Question from Tania to Julia:  What are your plans for the summer?

As I recently moved to Paris, I hope to develop my career as a fashion stylist assistant and work on my stylist portfolio.

1) How did you start your day?

I started my day by reading news about the war in Ukraine.

2) Do you have any morning rituals?

I always try to make time for a delicious breakfast, if possible with my partner. For me it’s the key to a good day. Today we had croissants with cream cheese, scrambled eggs, salmon, avocado and rocket.

3) What music did you choose for the day today and why?

I’m in a melancholic mood today and feel homesick, so I would choose Radiohead.. If we are talking about a song it would be Glass Eyes.

4) What made you happy the last time?

Last time I felt happy was when I saw my close family together. I'm lucky to have them all safe here in France.

5) Where is the best place where you’ve been and why?

I have been to many beautiful places, but if I had to choose the best one, I'd probably choose Kyiv, my birth city. I spent so much time there walking around, that I think I know every corner, every little detail. From my young years I was exploring this city with so much curiosity and love. Everything about it is my valuable memories. I love the people, bars, architecture, restaurants, outdoors and culture of this city.

6) Your current obsession?

My biggest obsession is fashion and styling. I like clothes and how people express themselves through it. I’ve enjoyed dressing up since I was a child and I dreamed of being a designer. I remember sketching and sewing clothes for barbies. I still draw when I feel inspired. So it's my old passion that has been with me all this time.I was always a visual person and I love to see beauty around. But fashion it's not just about the outside, it's a state of mind. And this is what inspires me the most, that through visual perception (artists/brands/designers) we can have an influence on social consciousness.

7) Who would be your ideal dinner guest and why?

It would be my close friends, Katya and Efe. Now they are in Turkey, but before we were living in the same city. They are my favourite company for dinners and parties until 6am or even just tea in the kitchen. I love them a lot and miss them.

The last time I saw them was at a small party in my Kyiv apartment. I invited some friends and even prepared some snacks (cooking it's not my thing). I really wanted to have some special time with them, because I had a feeling that I will not see them again soon. We were singing, drinking wine and even did some fun trust exercise games.

8) What relaxes you?

A hot bubble bath, candles and aromatherapy - especially sandalwood. I put on good music, like soul-jazz or some classical music. Chopin is my favourite when I take a bath.

9) What skills rarely taught would be extremely useful in everyday life?

Being open-minded and analyzing information.

10) A word to describe you

Multifaceted

11) What question would you like to ask the next person?

Who do you trust the most and why?
